The Division of Pediatric Endocrinology at Harbor UCLA Medical Center offers a three year clinical and research training program for graduates of pediatric residency programs. The program is ACGME-accredited for one position per training year. The program provides comprehensive clinical and scholarly activity training required for subspecialty board eligibility with the American Board of Pediatrics. This program will support the development of strong teaching skills for those interested in clinician-educator careers, and high-level investigative skills for individuals wishing to pursue a research-oriented academic career. Applications are through ERAS, and the program participates in the Pediatric Specialty Fall Match. Fellow positions are supported by the County of Los Angeles.

Dr. Yee completed her pediatric endocrinology fellowship training here at Harbor-UCLA and became a faculty member in 2007. Her research interests include the mechanisms of adiposity and management of childhood obesity. She uses stable isotope techniques to study the fatty acid metabolic pathways in cell culture and animal models of obesity. In parallel, she is also studying the plasma fatty acid composition of infants exposed to in utero nutritional imbalance. Dr. Yee is the medical director of the multidisciplinary Be Forever Fit clinic at Harbor-UCLA, which participates in the national Pediatric Obesity Weight Evaluation Registry (POWER), studying health services and outcomes of children with obesity.

News and Updates

Dr. Mao walked for the JDRF One Walk with Team Griffin, led by former Harbor-UCLA peds endocrine fellow Emily King. Team Griffin included Harbor-UCLA pediatric residency and endocrine fellowship graduates.

Dr. Yee spoke about dyslipidemia on a panel discussion at the national Pediatric Endocrine Society meeting.

Dr. Polgreen moderated the Clinical Applications session at the WORLD Symposium in San Diego. Her research group’s work on MPS III was presented as a poster abstract by The Lundquist Institute graduate student Jonathan Acevedo.
